The Sacred Andean Cross, Crafted by Hand

This stunning Chakana cross pendant is a wearable work of art — handcrafted in Peru using traditional inlay techniques passed down through generations. The Chakana, or Andean stepped cross, is one of the most sacred symbols in Incan cosmology — representing the three worlds of the cosmos, the four cardinal directions, and the cycle of life. Here it is rendered in its most traditional form: a stepped cross with chrysocolla-inlaid arms and a diamond-shaped center mosaic of natural stone and shell. A white mother of pearl bail completes the piece. Each pendant is one-of-a-kind, shaped from solid sterling silver 950.

Materials

  • Chrysocolla — rich teal-green forming the stepped cross arms
  • Red spiny oyster shell — bold, warm tones in the center diamond mosaic
  • Purple spiny oyster shell — deep, rich tones woven through the center
  • Sodalite — deep blue diamond accents in the center mosaic
  • White mother of pearl — soft, luminous bail accent and center highlights
  • Sterling silver 950 — higher purity than standard sterling, for a brighter, more refined finish

Dimensions

  • Length: 1 3/8 inches (from bail)
  • Width: 15/16 inch

Pendant only — chain not included. Because each pendant is handmade, slight natural variations in stone color and pattern make every piece uniquely yours.
